Paint & Print.

Hitchin Museum, 26th March - 7th May 2005

Joyce and Rony held their first joint exhibition at the Hitchin Museum and Art Gallery from 26 March to 7 May under the title ‘Paint & Print'. Skilfully hung by Caroline Frith , the display exploited the contrasting styles of Joyce's etchings and individual screen prints and Rony's large scale paintings.

A well attended private view saw the first ‘red dot' on the wall and over the course of the exhibition six works were sold. The museum was delighted with the show, particularly as it had been planned for much later in the year. When another exhibition fell though at short notice, Joyce and Rony were able to step in.

To judge by comments in the visitors book, the exhibition was very popular, with visitors of all ages. However, one young person in a school party thought Rony's painting of herself (when a baby) in the bath ‘a bit rude'.

During the exhibition Rony ran a daytime holiday event at the Museum for children on making ‘false prints' and what was intended as a one-off an evening session for adults on new techniques in watercolours. At the end of the adults' workshop she was asked what would be covered by next weeks session! With the cooperation of Hitchin Museum the evening event turned into a four part weekly ‘mini' course.

The photographs above were taken during the private view.
